Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has criticised his goalkeeper, Lucas Perri, for his role in Manchester United’s equaliser at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke cut a frustrated figure at full-time of Leeds’ battling draw with Man United, as his side threatened to pull off a statement victory.
The outstanding Brenden Aaronson put Leeds into a well-deserved lead midway through the first half before the Whites threw away their lead just minutes later.
Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson criticised Perri for his role after the game, and Farke has now echoed that verdict as he lamented the Brazilian’s lapse in concentration.
Was Lucas Perri to blame for the Man Utd equaliser? 🤔

Daniel Farke delivers damning verdict on Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri
Speaking in his post-match press conference after the draw against Man United, via Beanyman Sports on YouTube, Farke took the unusual step of criticising Perri for his role in the goal.
Perri has endured a shaky start to life in West Yorkshire, losing his place to Karl Darlow after an injury earlier in the season, and Farke pinned the blame for the visitors’ goal on his number one.
Farke said: “I don’t like to speak too much about individual mistakes anyhow, but it was obvious Lucas took the wrong decision to come off his line.
“If he stays on his line, it’s probably not even a chance because he was running away from the goal and Seb [Bornauw] and Jaka [Bijol] were close to him, and he opened the goal somehow and then with a long leg he could, more or less, put the ball in the direction of the goal.
Aaronson gets a 9, but duo get 5 out of 10 – do you agree? 🤔
Probably Aaronson's best-ever Leeds display.
“It was probably the wrong decision. Otherwise, we probably would have won this game because we didn’t allow really many more [chances]. Of course, it was disappointing, but you have to make decisions during the game, and probably this was, from his point of view, the wrong decision.
“Not a problem. We win together, we lose together, we draw together like today. He was also there with a good save in the first half, so yes, of course, he could have done better in this situation, and it was unnecessary to come off his line.”
Nigel Martyn agrees with Daniel Farke’s Lucas Perri criticism
Speaking to LUTV immediately after Leeds’ draw with Manchester United, legendary former Leeds goalkeeper Nigel Martyn backed both Farke and Robinson’s assessment of the goal.
According to Martyn, Perri neither commits to coming off his line nor hangs back long enough to allow the covering defenders to get across to prevent the shot.

Martyn said: “I think Lucas gets a little bit drawn towards it; it’s one or the other. You’ve either got to go all the way and try and get the block in, or maybe sort of get the brakes on a little bit earlier and be two or three yards further back, and you’ll have to certainly have time to react.
“In the end, it was a tame shot, but he knew all he had to do was get it past Lucas from a close range to score.”
