Attention switches away from the Championship promotion race for one game this weekend as Leeds United take on Millwall in the fourth round of The FA Cup on Saturday.

A rare Cup game at Elland Road sees Leeds take on a side now under the control of Alex Neil. Leeds lost last time out against Millwall at The Den, with Neil Harris guiding Millwall to a 1-0 win over The Whites.

But Millwall are a different proposition these days and Leeds will field a different side. Daniel Farke made it clear that he will make changes to his starting XI, more rotation than normal, given the fixture schedule.

Leeds were in action on Wednesday night and return to Championship action next Tuesday when Leeds go to Watford. So, Millwall on Saturday is likely to see plenty of changes as Leeds eye the fifth round.

Daniel Farke delivers an update on Patrick Bamford injury

Bamford has not been available for selection since coming off the bench against Blackburn on New Year’s Day. The one-time England international has broken down, sidelined once again by his hamstring.

The 31-year-old striker has become renowned for being injury prone. Ahead of Saturday’s clash against Millwall, Farke gave an update on the injury status of his squad and said Bamford is the only absentee.

“The only player who is not in team training is Patrick. That’s the first step, to return to team training. We hope it happens next week. It depends on the final stages of rehab. Definitely not in mix for Saturday.”

Patrick Bamford’s Leeds career ending with a whimper

Leeds’ no.9 is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract and clubs are becoming aware that he could soon be available. Blackburn, Wrexham and Genoa were all linked with Bamford in January.

John Eustace even confirmed Bamford was on Blackburn’s radar. Graham Smyth expects Bamford will leave Leeds in the summer, especially given he is one of the club’s top earners but rarely available.

The chances are that Bamford has started his last game for Leeds and come the summer, Leeds and the forward will organise a way in which he can leave the club for a nominal fee, as Leeds move on.
