Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was left at a loss after watching his side slip to a damaging Premier League defeat against Nottingham Forest.

The pressure will only continue to build on Leeds boss Daniel Farke after he watched his side fall to a costly 3-1 Premier League defeat.

Despite taking the lead from an early Lukas Nmecha goal, Leeds were outclassed by their relegation rivals, as Lucas Perri was criticised following another worrying display.

The loss means that Leeds’ cushion on the relegation zone has now all but evaporated, with Farke’s side now sitting just one point ahead of the bottom three heading into the international break.

Speaking after the game, Farke asked, “What can I do?” as he attempted to justify the manner of his side’s latest defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Daniel Farke delivers verdict on Leeds United’s Nottingham Forest defeat

Speaking to Sky Sports after Leeds’ latest away defeat in the Premier League, Farke admitted he did not know what to do after a frustrating performance.

David Prutton claimed Farke would be enraged by his side’s defensive performance. However, the Leeds boss slammed the referee instead.

Farke said: “Best league in the world and it’s small details. We gave the goal away too cheaply. The referee was the only one in the stadium who saw a fall for my player, the other way around. Long ball comes in and goal. What can I do?

“I don’t know. In the end, it doesn’t make sense to say too much. All that matters is the goals. No one will speak about the mistakes of the referee in a few weeks. We need to go back to making clean sheets. We didn’t give away much, but we need to improve.

“We could have made our life easier after the West Ham home win. We have back-to-back losses. Difficult places in Brighton and Forest. I didn’t expect a smooth, easy ride through the season. We will regroup and work.”

Daniel Farke’s refusal to adapt is proving costly for Leeds United

One of the repeated criticisms that Farke has faced from the Leeds fans is his unwillingness to change, both during and after the game.

The game was still in the balance when Forest boss Sean Dyche made a triple substitution, which decisively shifted the balance in his side’s favour in the minutes leading up to the second goal.

Fans will also question the continued omission of both Willy Gnonto and Dan James as Leeds struggled to trouble their opponents in the final third.

It can never be said that Farke is not loyal to his playing squad. However, Leeds have now suffered three damaging losses in four games. Farke has lived by the sword at Elland Road. By refusing to bend from his preferred set-up, he could now die by the sword.
