Leeds United return to action following the international break with a trip to managerless Rotherham United.
The Whites currently sit third in the Championship and eight points adrift of the top two having cut the gap slightly in the weeks leading up to the pause in the season.
Daniel Farke’s side enter the match on the back of a three-match winning run that saw them pick up three points against Huddersfield Town, Leicester City and Plymouth Argyle.
Opponents Rotherham are still on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Matt Taylor at the beginning of last week, but will pose a decent threat despite their position in the table.
Rotherham are difficult to beat at home and managed to hold Ipswich Town to a 2-2 draw recently and so Leeds will need to ensure they are fully at it to take the three points.
Prutton predicts Leeds win over Rotherham
David Prutton has provided his prediction in his latest EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, and sees Leeds taking a comfortable victory to put the pressure on the top two.
He said: “Rotherham still don’t have a new manager heading into this one, which suggests that parting company with Matt Taylor was more out of reluctance than anything. They had a decent home record under him, it was just on the road where it all fell apart.
“This is a great opportunity for Leeds to put some pressure on Leicester and Ipswich before those two play on Saturday. Five points would be a small gap, and I think that will be the damage. Prediction: Rotherham 1-3 Leeds.“
This match doesn’t come at the ideal time given that some of Leeds’ internationals will not even get chance to take part in a full training session.
Georginio Rutter also potentially being out does not help, as Leeds’ attacking structure is pretty much built around the quality he has.
However, Rotherham are struggling with injuries of their own and Leeds can’t afford to be dropping points here if they want to catch those above them.
