Daniel Farke says how many more wins Leeds need to finish in the Championship’s top two

Daniel Farke has watched Leeds United win nine of 16 Championship games this season, and he feels that the Whites need another 17 more victories from the remaining 30 to finish in the top two.

Leeds return after the November break in excellent form – winning three games in a row, and six of our last seven. The other being a 1-0 away loss to Stoke, in which Patrick Bamford missed from the spot.

Bamford might be required to lead the line on Friday night with Georginio Rutter a “major doubt”, after returning from France U21’s duty with an abdominal injury. So far, Leeds have 31 points from 16 games.

A very solid start, with Leeds seemingly improving as the season grows older. However, Leeds sit eight points Ipswich and Leicester, in the race to finish in the top two places in the Championship table.

Farke spoke to Wednesday’s press conference about challenging the top two – and as per Leeds Live – he said that Leeds need 26 wins to secure an automatic promotion place. Leeds need 17 more, then.

“If you want play-offs, you need 20 wins, direct promotion you need probably 26 wins. For me it’s just the last five or six games when it’s the crunch time, until then you stay focused on yourself,” he said.

Another 17 wins from a possible 90 points would see Leeds pick up 51 further points, taking our total to 82. You’d like to think that of the other 13 games of our remaining 30, Leeds would draw more than lose.

So, Farke’s hope is that Leeds get around 90 points and more often than not, that will get a club back in the Premier League. Leeds have what it takes but it is about consistency between now and next May.
