Rotherham United remain managerless ahead of next Friday’s Yorkshire derby with Leeds United.

The Millers dismissed Matt Taylor from his position earlier this week after last Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at Watford, with high-flying Leeds their next opponents after the international break.

However, according to the Rotherham Advertiser, it is unlikely that they will make an appointment before the home match against Leeds, with owner Tony Stewart in ‘no rush’ to bring in a replacement.

Former Leeds managers Steve Evans and Neil Warnock are among the names who have been linked with the role, but the clock is ticking if they want to bring someone in before the season gets back underway.

It was announced on Tuesday that Wayne Carlisle, Dan Green and Scott Brown would be taking charge on an interim basis for now, but they could not have asked for a more difficult match than Leeds.

Leeds need to take advantage of Rotherham uncertainty

Leeds have won six of their last seven matches in the Championship but cannot afford to slip up with Leicester City and Ipswich Town still eight points clear.

You would’ve thought that the international break would’ve handed Rotherham enough time to bring someone in for Leeds, but it appears that won’t be the case.

Rotherham have been decent at home this season but Leeds need to be taking advantage of their opposition’s current uncertainty with a quick start.

That said, Daniel Farke has been left frustrated with the scheduling of the fixture, which is set to take place on Friday, despite several members of his squad being away with their respective countries.

Welsh trio Dan James, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu, for example, do not play their second game until Tuesday night, giving them an extremely tight turnaround to be ready.
