Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville believes he is now much more of a professional than he was two years ago.
The 22-year-old has had the question mark of attitude problems against his name throughout his time at Leeds, with Jesse Marsch often making some sort of comment during his time as manager.
And speaking on the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, Summerville has admitted that he perhaps did not apply himself as thoroughly as he could have done.
Now, however, Summerville says he is in constant communication with Daniel Farke and his staff in terms of his recovery to ensure he is in prime condition to be ready for game day.
He said: “I wouldn’t say individually but maybe what I hear a lot now is I grew as a person on the pitch, but also off it. I am a real professional now, for example if I have a day off I come in and do my stuff to recover and be available for the next game.
“The communication is much better with the staff, if I feel something [an injury] I come in. Maybe two years ago I would say one day before the game I am injured and then they start panicking because they count on me.”
Summerville benefitting from off-field improvement
Summerville is undoubtedly benefitting from his improvements off the field having established himself as one of the best players in the division.
A consistent run of matches has allowed him to produce a consistent end product, with nine goals and six assists from the wing already this season.
Summerville had struggled with niggling ankle injuries regularly in his early years at Leeds and it is clear to see why, based off these latest quotes.
His talent has always been clear to see but now he is applying himself properly, he is the man people are coming to Elland Road to watch, with Dom Matteo hailing him as a joy to watch.
Hopefully he can continue this form for the rest of the season and play a major part in helping Leeds win promotion back to the Premier League.
