Daniel Farke is set to ramp up the heat in Germany as Leeds United players continue their preparations for the new season, and Crysencio Summerville is already requiring treatment.
The Leeds players arrived at their base for the next week or so on Sunday morning. A 26-man squad, which includes six Leeds youngsters like Sam Chambers, was made 27 by the late arrival of Jayden Bogle.
German police have dictated that media coverage is limited, and both friendlies Leeds will play shall be behind closed doors. Coverage of the games on social media is not even permitted by those in charge.
Leeds fans will be allowed to watch an immediate full-game replay on LUTV after full-time, free of charge. It is unclear when those friendlies take place but on Sunday, Farke put his squad through their paces.
Summerville needs treatment, Mateo Joseph suffers a few knocks
The future of Summerville remains in doubt with recent reports suggesting he is ‘weighing up his future’ with Newcastle, Palace and Villa all interested in Summerville while Glen Kamara’s Rennes are also keen.
But he remains a Leeds player and has joined his current teammates in Germany. Leeds Live, one of two outlets permitted to cover The Whites in Germany, said Summerville needed treatment on the first day.
They also say striker Mateo Joseph, who could be deemed first choice this coming season by Farke, was on the receiving end of a few knocks. But, nothing to deter the Spaniard from battling on on Sunday.
“There were no injury issues that flared up during the morning routine. Joseph took a few knocks and ran them off, while Summerville got some brief treatment and Bamford continued to manage his workload.”
How Ethan Ampadu welcomed Jayden Bogle after late arrival
While it might be a gruelling pre-season training camp in the sun, snippets of action behind the scenes show the Leeds players in a great mood as new signing Bogle arrived late on Sunday after his £5m move.
Leeds posted a clip of Bogle meeting his teammates for the first time while embracing former Sheffield United teammate Ethan Ampadu – who hilariously asked Sam Byram if Bogle’s late arrival was a fine.
Bogle is expected to take part in Monday’s sessions, while Max Wober could also take part after returning to Leeds alongside Brenden Aaronson with the American impressing on day one in Germany this summer.
