Brenden Aaronson was spotted wearing Leeds United training kit despite not being involved during the 3-0 win over Harrogate Town, and has since joined the Leeds squad in jetting out to Germany.
Leeds jetted off to their Germany training base on Sunday morning, with 27 players picked by Daniel Farke. Six Leeds youngsters have been included, as have Aaronson and Austria defender Max Wober.
Sam Chambers scored at Harrogate while Joe Rothwell has been impressed with Archie Gray’s younger brother Harry. Both are in Germany, as are Harry Christy, James Debayo, Luca Thomas and Charlie Crew.
Aaronson, meanwhile, is back at Leeds after representing USA at Copa America. He has already confirmed he will be a part of the Leeds squad pushing to go up, despite previous reports suggesting otherwise.
How Aaronson got on in day one of Germany training camp
Leeds posted a video of the players boarding the plane to Germany this morning, a video that included both Aaronson and Wober climbing the steps to return to the country in which they played last season.
Aaronson for Union Berlin, and Wober for Gladbach. Media opportunities in Germany have been limited by German police, but the Yorkshire Evening Post are in attendance and Graham Smyth is reporting.
He watched the Leeds players in action during the first session in Germany, and he gave his verdict on Aaronson’s return to training under Daniel Farke. Aaronson left his mark on striker Mateo Joseph.
“Back in Leeds gear, back in training, giving as good as he got. Some tidy touches, didn’t shy away from challenges and left Joseph on the deck. He checked on his fallen team-mate, no harm, on they went.”

It was a bit of a surprise to see Aaronson wearing Leeds kit ahead of the win over Harrogate, especially as he was not among the substitutes. But it is clear Aaronson is trying to make a good impression to fans.
He will be fully aware that not only did he frustrate fans with his poor form in his first season, but also his exit – as was the way with the seven others that left using Victor Orta’s clause – angered Leeds supporters.
But Farke said Aaronson even returned ahead of schedule: “Brenden arrived yesterday after a long flight, he arrived three days earlier than he should have so he is desperate to be back and out on the pitch.”
