Leeds United will be flying out to Germany this weekend for this summer’s pre-season tour.
The Whites will be playing two behind-closed-doors friendlies against unconfirmed opposition and it appears as though all the first team players will be on the plane.
Daniel Farke gave an update on all the key topics of the summer at Elland Road following Friday night’s 3-0 victory over Harrogate Town in their first pre-season friendly.
Junior Firpo, Georginio Rutter and Sam Chambers were all on the scoresheet and while it was a good first workout of pre-season, it was what Farke said afterwards that was arguably more important.
Farke has all but confirmed Max Wober is part of his plans for next season in what is a saga that has so far dominated the summer, though Liam Cooper will not be at Elland Road.
Farke shares Brenden Aaronson update after Leeds friendly
Farke’s comments on Wober certainly took a lot of Leeds supporters by surprise considering Rasmus Kristensen, who was in the same position, left on loan again on Friday.
Wober was also not in attendance in Harrogate which potentially added fuel to the fire regarding a potential departure, though that is only because he’s due back today, according to Farke.
One player who was in the stands that wasn’t involved in the game, though, was Brenden Aaronson, who had his first individual session of pre-season yesterday.
Aaronson decided very early on in the summer he wanted to return to Leeds but did, of course, return later than the rest of the squad due to his involvement at the Copa America.
However, speaking post-match to BBC Radio Leeds, Farke has claimed Aaronson actually returned a few days early from his holiday as he is so ‘desperate’ and ‘motivated’ to make an impact at Leeds again.
He said: “Brenden arrived yesterday after a long flight, he arrived three days earlier than he should have so he is desperate to be back and out on the pitch. I wanted him to have at least two, two-and-a-half-weeks of holiday after he was involved in the tournament.
“Had an individual session today, his first session with the team tomorrow and he’ll fly to Germany with us. It is great to have him back because he came only back in good shape and he’s highly motivated.”
Aaronson doing all the right things and deserves second Leeds chance
Understandably for most supporters it is going to take a little while for Leeds fans to take to Aaronson being back in the fold.
However, he is doing all the right things. He ended any speculation by making his decision so quickly, and returning from his holiday early is another sign.
Ultimately, though, Aaronson is going to have to do his talking on the pitch to get properly back on side of the Elland Road faithful.
If he can begin the campaign with a few goals and assists, a lot of supporters will forgive and forget last season’s loan very quickly.
