Connor Roberts sends eight-word Leeds United message after Burnley bore draw

Connor Roberts was one of two former Leeds United players in Burnley’s side on Monday night as the two promotion rivals played out a bore draw at Turf Moor.

Dan James produced the only shot on target throughout the entire match, with his snaphot tipped over the bar by England goalkeeper James Trafford in the 88th minute. The conditions did not help the game.

With the wind and rain reaping havoc at Turf Moor, Leeds and Burnley were hellbent on avoiding defeat rather than winning the game. Leeds probably dominated the game, but neither side had big chances.

Scott Parker said Leeds are the best side in the Championship after the game, highlighting his side had taken four points off Leeds throughout 24-25. Daniel Farke stays winless in the league against Burnley.

Connor Roberts sends message to Leeds United players

Wales international Roberts joined Leeds on loan from Burnley last January for the second half of last season, clocking up 15 appearances. He scored a crucial goal in Leeds’ excellent 3-1 win over Leicester.

But a permanent move was not in the offing and it meant Roberts waved goodbye to his Wales mates Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon last summer. Burnley’s relegation has seen Roberts return.

Forming a partnership with another of Leeds’ loanees last season in Jaidon Anthony on the right, Roberts was excellent again last night. He took to Instagram, posting: “Nice to see some old mukkas last night.”

Connor Roberts could be on the move again, in the summer

Leeds have since brought in Jayden Bogle and the £5m addition from Sheffield United is arguably Leeds’ best player at the moment, producing some scintillating form with Dan James on Leeds’ right flank.

But Roberts has been exceptional this season, too. The experienced Welshman has played a huge role in helping Burnley concede just nine goals this season and keep a whopping 20 clean sheets so far.

His importance to this Burnley side was proven when he simply stopped in his tracks to prevent Largie Ramazani from heading home a James cross. Intelligent defending even if a slight risk of a penalty.

But Roberts might find himself on the move once again this summer. His Burnley contract is due to end in June and it might be that Roberts has to go and find himself a new home with no new deal in sight.
