Club are now getting worried they won’t be able to sign £10m Leeds United player permanently

Real Betis are reportedly getting worried that they may not be able to sign Marc Roca permanently from Leeds United.

Roca is currently on a season-long-loan deal at Betis after triggering the option to leave Elland Road on loan in the summer following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in May.

According to Mucho Deporte, Roca is ‘at risk’ of returning to Leeds due to the high cost of making his transfer permanent, with Betis also not thought to be in a particularly strong financial position.

If Leeds do not get promoted this season, there is a chance Roca could return to Betis on loan for a second time, however that is not the case if Daniel Farke’s side do return to the Premier League.

Instead, it is said that Leeds have offered Betis a ‘very high’ option-to-buy Roca upon promotion, which is something they may not be able to afford.

Roca will not play for Leeds again regardless

Even despite this new development, it is highly likely that Roca will never play for Leeds again anyway, with ‘people close to him’ not expecting him to return, as per the Athletic.

Roca has also regularly spoken of his happiness in the wake of his departure from Leeds, with Betis providing him with the platform to re-find his form.

Estadio Deportivo have also reported that Betis have a double agreement in place to sign Roca one way or another next summer, which is a little confusing after this latest development.

Leeds paid £10 million to sign Roca from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 and his impressive start to life at Betis should ensure they make a profit.

Whether that is Betis buying him permanently or not, it is almost impossible to see Roca ever coming back and representing Leeds again.
