Marc Roca is on fire in Spain on loan at in-form Real Betis with the midfielder becoming a key player for the La Liga side since joining on loan from Leeds United – he says it was a “great option” to leave.
Roca, 26, has endured a difficult three years. He starred for Espanyol prior, earning a big move to Bayern Munich. But, just 24 games in two years followed at Bayern – then, earning a £10m move to Elland Road.
He played 36 times for us last season in all competitions. But, he could rarely keep up with the intensity of the Premier League, often being subbed off after 60 minutes or so. Tyler Adams made him look good.
Eventually, Roca was one of many players now deemed to have flopped in the summer of 2022 and has gone out on loan – using the frustrating relegation loan clause inserted in contracts by Victor Orta.

He moved to Betis, returning to Spain after three tough years. But it was like he never left. Roca is on fire for Betis, already playing half of what he managed with us, scoring four goals as Betis impress this term.
His form is also convincing those when it comes to the Spain National Team, pushing for his first-ever call-up ahead of Euro 2024. Betis sit seventh in La Liga, with the Spanish side eight games unbeaten.
Roca was speaking this week to Spanish site Radio Marca, with the international break in full flow. He said that returning to Spain was a “great option” for him – and he has found a “home” in Real Betis.
