Marc Roca is one of 11 players out on loan from Leeds United this season.
Following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in May, several members of the first team squad took advantage of loan clauses inserted into their contracts, Roca being one of them.
Roca made the season-long-loan move to Real Betis where he has enjoyed a positive time of it, and according to Phil Hay in his latest Athletic piece, he does not expect to play for Leeds again.
It is said that ‘people close to him’ are of the idea that his days at Elland Road are now over, with Leeds themselves now also having no plans to reintegrate him back into the club.
Roca has repeatedly spoken of his happiness at Betis since making the move, and it is also clear that the La Liga side would like to make it permanent, if their finances allow it.
Leeds appear happy for the loanees to leave permanently
Supporters appear to have washed their hands with pretty much every first team player who left on loan in the summer, which would make it difficult for any of them to return.
Brenden Aaronson, for example, claimed in an interview last week that he felt his career at Leeds was not done, which is the opposite of what those at the club believe now.
With the positive mood at the club having been restored by the players here now, Leeds clearly do not want to risk bringing them back and changing that.
If Leeds are to get promoted this season, that would mean they are entering the Premier League with an almost entirely different squad to the one that went down in May.
That is definitely for the best given that the majority of the players who left on loan proved that they were not good enough for England’s top-flight anyway.
