Rangers manager Michael Beale says there is ‘nothing’ in reports linking Glen Kamara with a move to Leeds United.
Beale was speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Rangers’ Champions League qualifier with Servette, where he was asked directly on the chances of Kamara joining Leeds.
Leeds have been linked with a move for Kamara throughout the summer and reports from the Fourth Official last month even went as far as saying a deal was close.
It has not yet progressed to that stage since then, though Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth stated on Monday that Leeds are revisiting their interest from earlier in the window.
Leeds are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements with Bournemouth having triggered the £20 million release clause in Tyler Adams’ contract, with Fabrizio Romano claiming he is keen on the move.
Beale says ‘nothing’ in Kamara to Leeds reports
Despite that, though, Beale was quite firm in his suggestion that Kamara would not be joining Leeds when asked about the situation on Monday afternoon.
He said: “There’s nothing in that, not at this moment.”
Beale has spoken relatively transparently on the saga involving Kamara throughout the summer and as most recently as last week, insisted he would ‘definitely’ be moving on.
Kamara has not been involved in any of Rangers’ matches across pre-season, or during the opening two weeks of the campaign and is training away from the rest of his teammates.
However, it appears as though Beale has all but ruled out a move to Leeds, certainly for the time being.
