It’s been a season of great rivalry between Sheffield United and Leeds United, as the Whites never fail to make a feud.

Daniel Farke will want to focus on his Leeds team gaining promotion to the Premier League, and it seems like that’s all Chris Wilder can think about too.

Wilder sent a subtle dig to Leeds regarding their final points tally last season, as you wouldn’t think the Blades have a derby against Sheffield Wednesday around the corner.

It’s a situation that Whites fans despise, as the Leeds faithful have dubbed Wilder’s claims ‘nonsense’.

Now, after what the Sheffield boss said recently, Leeds will want to trump Wilder in one thing he’s been gloating about.

From his previous comments, Leeds fans would love to get one over Wilder, so it’s an annoying circumstance for them when they find out their rival is boasting about a record.

Like every manager has said, Wilder is unsure if he’ll catch Leeds, and despite not answering when talking about their promotion chances, he had no embarrassment in saying what Sheffield are doing well in.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference for the Steel City Derby on Sunday, Wilder couldn’t help but make a claim that would frustrate Leeds.

“I’m trying to achieve a double as a Sheffield United manager; the players are going to try and achieve a double as a Sheffield United team,” Wilder said.

“People remember winners. We’re trying to improve our away record, which is the best away record in the division, and we’ve still got a fight to preserve or improve our league position.”

Leeds’ frustration will grow as chances of catching Wilder’s record revealed

There would be a smug look on every Leeds fans’ face if they were able to finish above the Blades in the away rankings.

However, Farke’s failures away from Elland Road have played their part in ensuring this doesn’t happen.

The Championship’s away standings prove this, as Leeds are lagging behind the Blades.

Even though Wilder’s side has a big derby away from home on Sunday and still has to make the trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley, Leeds have proven to be inconsistent on their travels this season.

This was proven when facing a brilliant atmosphere in the Championship like Fratton Park, and Leeds still have a tricky test at Middlsbrough to come, showing that Wilder might just win this one.
