Chris Sutton says one Leeds United man has proved him completely wrong this season

Leeds United face Spurs this weekend, and Chris Sutton has explained one of Daniel Farke’s players has shocked him ahead of the fixture.

Heading into the showdown at Elland Road, Leeds United are protecting an unbeaten run spanning 383 days at the time of writing. Daniel Farke will want to protect a good managerial record against Tottenham

There are reasons to be optimistic, then, which perhaps explains why Anton Stach has fired Spurs a bullish warning already ahead of the 12.30pm kick off at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime.

There are also signs that Thomas Frank has not quite fixed all of Ange Postcoglou’s problems, as Spurs’ attacking problems offer Leeds hope, too. They have not been that effective in terms of open play chance creation.

After Alan Shearer, BBC pundit Chris Sutton predicts Leeds United vs Tottenham

It’s likely to be unchanged for Leeds’ XI at home to Spurs. That said, someone like Jaka Bijol could be an interesting option for Leeds against Tottenham

The preview analysis and predictions have been pouring in lately, and Opta believe Spurs have a good chance at Elland Road. Others, such as Ally McCoist, are more positive about Leeds vs Spurs.

Alan Shearer is confident of a Leeds result vs Spurs and his fellow BBC pundit Chris Sutton has had his say on the outcome, amid particular praise for Farke. He has surprised him and proven him wrong so far.

He said: “Fair play to Leeds, they have really surprised and impressed me so far. There is a good balance to their team because they carry a threat and can dig in too.

“Apart from a heavy defeat at Arsenal, they have been competitive in every game so far and their good start would have been even better but for late goals against Fulham and Bournemouth.

“Even so, they have got more points than I expected at this stage and Daniel Farke deserves a lot of credit.

“I think there were question marks over whether he could manage at this level because of his Premier League record with Norwich but, as I’ve said before, he never really had the squad there to be able to compete.

“Tottenham have had a difficult week, having to fight back to rescue draws against Wolves and Bodo/Glimt, and this is going to be another tricky game for them.

“I can actually see it ending in another draw for Spurs. At least they played in the Arctic Circle on Tuesday night rather than Wednesday but a lunchtime kick-off on Saturday is still far from ideal, and this Champions League campaign is going to stretch their squad.”

Daniel Farke’s view of Thomas Frank and his career record against Spurs’ boss

Farke has enormous admiration for Spurs’ Thomas Frank and outlined as much during his pre-match presser, with the Dane facing Farke five times in his career.

Farke has three wins and two draws when facing Spurs’ boss at the likes of Brentford. However, he is extremely impressed so far, stating: “The quality of the coach is defined by what you do over the mid and long-term.

“You have to show consistency, Thomas has done this. Unbelievable success at Brentford, positive start at Tottenham. Always good to see him.

“His teams are well-structured, well-managed, well-coached. I am looking forward to seeing him but we need to be prepared in order to be successful.”
