Chris Sutton has written in Friday’s edition of The Mail – as posted on Twitter by David Coverdale – that Leeds fans should be very excited by the appointment of Daniel Farke, complimenting the German manager’s style of football.
Farke, 46, is set to become the club’s new manager. The club are waiting for the EFL to ratify The 49ers takeover from Andrea Radrizzani before announcing a new gaffer. That is despite Radrizzani announcing a boss of his own.
Graham Smyth explained on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Inside Elland Road podcast that The 49ers are desperate to make the announcement. But technically, Radrizzani remains the major shareholder. It is not the 49ers club, yet.
Farke is set to take over, when the 49ers complete a takeover. Sutton has close ties with Norwich and knows all about the ex-Gladbach boss. He says fans should be excited, alluring to his 71 wins in 138 Championship games.
“You’d struggle to find a Norwich supporter who dislikes Daniel Farke and if I was a Leeds fan, I’d be excited at the prospect of seeing some entertaining football at Elland Road. Especially after the club failed with Sam Allardyce.
“Sure, Farke got Norwich relegated. But he got them promoted twice and it was all done in his style, winning 71 of 138 games in that division. His football is front-foot. It’s about flying forwards, not looking sideways,” Sutton said.

For a pundit like Sutton, who both knows Norwich inside out and is always quick to jump on criticism of a manager or player, to praise Farke in this way – is a big statement. It is also a good sign for Leeds that Farke is the right man.
But he will have his work cut out. Farke has got to get the ball rolling and immediately, get the players out of the door that do not want to be at Leeds. Then, within seconds, bring in his replacements. Absolutely loads to do.
