Andrea Radrizzani has made a sensational move to hire Andrea Pirlo as Sampdoria manager as Leeds continue to be patient in the announcement of a new manager, with the club supposedly waiting for the EFL to ratify the takeover.

Leeds are expected to announce the appointment of Daniel Farke as manager, though Patrick Vieira, Scott Parker and Carlos Corberan have also been linked with the role. Nothing has been confirmed and we are patiently waiting.

There have been murmurs that the club are waiting for the EFL to confirm the 49ers as having bought the club from Radrizzani. That is expected to come sooner rather than later. It allows the EFL to have control and make decisions.

But that has not stopped Radrizzani from making a manager move of his own. Now in control at Sampdoria, the ex-Leeds supremo has made a bold move to hire Italian legend Pirlo as gaffer, as Pirlo continues to build his reputation.

Pirlo, of course, broke his way into the world of football management by taking over Juventus – having worked as the club’s U23 manager, following 164 games for the club. He struggled though, moving to Turkey for his next job.

At Fatih Karagumruk, he won 13 of 36 games. Pretty mediocre. Now he returns to Italy and will be tasked with taking Radrizzani’s new side straight back into Serie A – or, at least be in contention. Leeds must name a manager soon.

With Radrizzani making his move, it is only more of a sign that Leeds need to make an announcement themselves. That date of pre-season returning on July 2 is edging closer. If the club do not have a manager by then, it is poor.
