Burnley’s Jaidon Anthony thinks he’s better than two current Leeds United players

Leeds United and Burnley have been the two standout teams in the Championship this season. It’s only right then that both earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Both Leeds United manager Daniel Farke and Burnley manager Scott Parker have earned career third promotions to the Premier League as managers, both doing so in rather dramatic fashion after a nervy couple of weeks at the top of the table.

On Easter Monday, Leeds United beat Stoke City 6-0, but their promotion wasn’t secured until Burnley beat Sheffield United 2-1 later in the day. Now the two teams will battle it out for the title.

Already at Elland Road, there’s a summer transfer plan for the Premier League. The 49ers look set to spend big in a bid to stabilise in the Premier League and Farke has said he wants backing in the transfer window this summer.

We could see changes across the pitch at Leeds United. And we could yet see Burnley and Leeds United either battling near the bottom next time round or proving pleasantly formidable: it all depends on this summer.

Jaidon Anthony thinks he’s better than Joel Piroe and Ethan Ampadu at Leeds United

One player who’s helped fire Burnley to promotion this season is Jaidon Anthony. The man on loan from Bournemouth has scored seven and assisted seven more in 41 Championship outings for the Clarets this season. But despite Joel Piroe having scored 19, including four against Stoke City, Anthony rates himself as the better player.

And he also backs himself as the better player than Leeds United skipper and fan favourite Ethan Ampadu: featuring 27 times in the Championship this season owing to injuries, Ampadu has filled in in multiple positions and Leeds United aways look better when he’s in the XI.

Appearing on a League of 72 TikTok, Anthony was asked not to speak until he heard a better player than himself, eventually breaking his silence for Sheffield United and Leeds United target Gustavo Hamer.

Jaidon Anthony’s stats vs Dan James and Manor Solomon in 2024/25

Anthony is a winger for Burnley. He plays the same roles as Manor Solomon and Dan James but both Leeds players outshine the 25-year-old in terms of both goals and assists in the Championship this season.

And Piroe meanwhile way outscores Anthony, who only has one more assist than Piroe as well.

All good players in their own rights, next season in the Premier League will prove who has and hasn’t got what it takes to succeed in the top flight, should Anthony either return to Bournemouth and play, or stay at Burnley.
