Leeds United made it five Championship wins in a row at the start of the New Year with a 1-0 victory at Bristol City.
Willy Gnonto’s goal just after half-time was the only difference between the two sides, as the 20-year-old netted just his second of the season in only his third league start since September.
On another night, Leeds could have won last night by three or four goals but failure to take their chances handed Bristol City the opportunity to pile players forward at the end, with manager Liam Manning saying Daniel Farke’s side are the best they have faced under him.
However, with just one goal in it, Leeds were forced to withstand a little bit of pressure in their own box, but Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon were able to deal with everything that was thrown their way.
Ampadu posted on Instagram after the match to hail such an important three points, with £45 million Tottenham Hotspur star Brennan Johnson among those to comment.
Johnson hails Wales teammate Ampadu
Johnson suggested that his Wales international teammate is like a Rolls Royce at the back, as Leeds kept their fourth clean sheet in five matches with him starting at centre-back.
Ampadu completed 88 per cent of his passes and put his body on the line with a couple of important blocks, as well as interceptions.

This is not the first time Ampadu has been likened to a Rolls Royce, with BBC pundit Jon Newsome claiming as such after the 3-0 win at Cardiff City last month.
He was also handed the armband once again in the absence of Pascal Struijk and Liam Cooper, and it is a role he will continue to grow into. Newsome believes he and Rodon really led by example last night.
Ampadu has spent the majority of the season playing as a central midfielder but it will certainly be interesting to see how he changes the team when Struijk does return from injury.
