Bradley Johnson believes Daniel Farke held a meeting with Dan James in the summer, which has transformed his Leeds United career.

James was once again instrumental in Leeds returning to winning ways on Wednesday night as he got on the scoresheet against his former side Swansea City to round off a 3-1 victory.

The 26-year-old lashed the ball into the roof of the net from inside the area after goals from Joel Piroe and a first at Elland Road for Georginio Rutter cancelled out Swansea’s very early opener.

This is quite comfortably the best run of form James has had since moving to Elland Road, and speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Johnson believes it is easy to see he is full of confidence.

James now already has five goals and four assists for the season, while only Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have created more big chances than him across the division.

Johnson right in saying Farke held James meeting

Johnson says on top of how hard James is working for the team, his overall performance is telling of someone playing with a lot of confidence.

He said: “You can tell he’s enjoying his football. Maybe Farke’s sat him down and told him how much of a part he’s going to play this season, and how hard he’s got to work for the team. From what I’ve seen tonight he worked hard for the team.

“And he’s enjoying his football. Confidence is high, goals bring confidence and he’s very confident at the moment. Scoring a lot of goals. And you can just tell in his performances that he’s on a high at the moment.”

Johnson would be right in saying that Farke held a meeting with James at the start of the season, with the 26-year-old admitting it himself recently.

James’ future had looked uncertain having spent last season on loan at Fulham, but Farke clearly told him in the summer that he would be a big player.

At the moment, James is very much repaying that faith as he is currently keeping the likes of Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony on the sidelines.
