Connor Roberts showed Leeds United fans just how desperate he is to be involved at Elland Road on Tuesday night at Plymouth – and Ben Parker has shared what he’s been told about the right-back.
Roberts, 28 – who joined Leeds on deadline day with the Whites announcing his arrival after the 11pm deadline – was registered too late for Bristol City. He was then ineligible for the trip south, to Plymouth.
However, the 54-time Wales star still travelled with the Leeds squad to get a feel for how things work under manager Daniel Farke. He even participated in the warm-up before the 4-1 after extra time win.
Combine that with his post-signing comments, and it is clear that Roberts’ attitude is a good one. A player that has already made it clear he’d join permanently. Parker told LS11 what he has been told.
“The best right-back in the Championship last season, a great bit of business. We’ve gone from signing Americans to Wales. If he is like any of his three Wales teammates, we’ll have another fantastic player.
“Ampadu, Rodon, James have been superb. That’ll help Roberts settle. Been told he’s a really good lad, he’ll get stuck in, a really good signing to make at this stage of the season,” Parker said, about Roberts.

Roberts will be itching for Saturday afternoon with the defender finally available to make his debut for Leeds against Rotherham United. He might not start but he is certainly available to play at Elland Road.
It is an interesting one. Archie Gray only played the latter part of the win over Plymouth and you would expect Gray to come in at right-back on Saturday. But, does that leave Leeds short in the middle?
Ilia Gruev saw out the entire 120 minutes on Tuesday, while Glen Kamara played 71 minutes. Having Roberts fit and ready to go could see Daniel Farke choose to use Gray in midfield, to rest other options.
