Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has delivered his latest verdict on Leeds United’s survival hopes after the draw against Manchester United.

Leeds moved eight points clear of the bottom three in the Premier League after Brenden Aaronson’s neat finish gave them a share of the points against Man United.

Daniel Farke is looking to continue his seven-game unbeaten run when his Leeds side face Newcastle United in their next game, after an impressive turnaround in form.

Leeds will be boosted by the return of influential captain Ethan Ampadu for the trip to the North East, and Jayden Bogle could also be fit to return after missing the game against Man United.

The Whites could take another decisive step towards safety by avoiding defeat against Newcastle, and Foster has now backed them to stay in the top flight this season.

Ben Foster backs Leeds United to secure Premier League safety

Speaking on the Ben Foster Podcast, former Man United goalkeeper Foster made a bold claim on Leeds’ Premier League status.

According to Foster, it would be a “disgrace” if Leeds are dragged into a relegation battle from this point, having climbed away from the bottom three in recent weeks.

Foster said: “Do we think Leeds are going to be alright this season? Because, watching that game, they are going to be more than alright.

“If they get dragged into a relegation fight from here, then it’s a disgrace, it really is, because they are way too good to get relegated.”

Before adding: “If they can get a couple of wins in the next month, I would say they are virtually there.”

Leeds United looking to repeat 2021 feat against Newcastle United

With Leeds looking to pull further away from the bottom three in their next game, Daniel Farke can achieve a five-year first when his side travels to St James’ Park.

According to the BBC, Newcastle are on an unbeaten run against newly-promoted sides that stretches back to January 2021.

That defeat came against Marcelo Bielsa and his Leeds side, as Jack Harrison and Raphinha scored the goals for Leeds in a 2-1 win at St James’ Park.

If Leeds can pull off a similar result almost five years later to the day, Farke’s side will take another decisive step to proving Foster’s prediction right.
