Daniel Farke is set to name Djed Spence in Leeds United’s squad for the first time since September this evening.
Spence has been back in training for just under two weeks now after recovering from knee ligament damage he picked up all the way back in the first international break of the season.
There had been hope that Spence would make the bench for last Friday’s trip to Rotherham United, but Farke said after the game he had not yet had enough training sessions to be considered match fit.
However, tonight may well be the time that Leeds fans get to see Spence in action once again with Leeds Live reporting that he is set to be included in tonight’s matchday squad.
This would echo what Farke said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, where he commented on how impressed has been with Spence over the last few days.
Spence return a huge boost for Leeds
Leeds are coming into their busiest period of the season over the next few weeks and so it is now the perfect time to welcome Spence back into the side.
The initial timescale for Spence’s return was set at eight weeks but clearly Leeds have been keen to ensure he is not rushed back so he is fully fit for the Christmas period.

Spence will add a huge amount of extra quality into Leeds’ starting XI once he is fit to start playing 90 minutes, with his pace and dribbling ability a new dynamic into Farke’s attack.
Hopefully he can get some time off the bench tonight to start building up his match fitness, with a view to starting either at Blackburn Rovers or Sunderland in the next two weeks.
Spence is also set to face his former club Middlesbrough for the first time on Saturday and he will no doubt be keen to impress against them.
