Daniel Farke says 23-year-old Leeds player has impressed him in training the day before Swansea

Daniel Farke has dropped a big hint that Djed Spence could be back in Leeds United’s squad against Swansea City.

Spence made his return to training during the international break but was not involved at all at Rotherham United on Friday night due to the length of time he has been on the sidelines.

However, in his pre-match press conference ahead of Swansea, Farke has spoken of how impressed he has been with Spence on the training pitch over the last couple of days.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since the first international break in September after suffering ligament damage in training just a few days before the win at Millwall.

Since his loan move from Tottenham Hotspur, Spence has managed just 10 minutes of action against Sheffield Wednesday, but his return will represent a huge boost.

Spence to give Leeds a new dynamic

Farke also provided an update on the likes of Pascal Struijk, Joe Gelhardt and Jamie Shackleton, with the former likely to return to the starting XI, and the latter two hoping for a place on the bench.

He said: “Pascal had training days and players involved in the last few days of training, Spence, Gelhardt and Shackleton, benefitted from more days on the pitch. Session this morning and everything looked good. One final session tomorrow morning. Dallas unavailable.”

Spence will offer Farke’s squad a whole new dynamic down the right-hand-side, which he has clearly been keen to add since the moment he was appointed.

Archie Gray has filled in pretty well over recent weeks but does not have that raw attacking ability that Spence possesses, which is an exciting prospect.

Hopefully he can pick up some decent minutes over the next couple of games ahead of potentially getting his first start at Blackburn Rovers on December 9.
