Leeds United fans say Daniel Farke ‘deserves the sack’ for what he did during 3-0 Brighton defeat

Daniel Farke is not a popular man after Leeds suffered a 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

The German seemed to instruct his side to sit deep from the very first whistle at the Amex Stadium, inviting pressure and allowing Brighton to pin Leeds deep inside their own half.

It took just 11 minutes for this pressure to result in a goal as Danny Welbeck opened the scoring, and Leeds fans were livid after noticing Daniel Farke decided against making any changes at the interval despite a woeful first half.

Leeds fans cannot believe Daniel Farke sent the same XI out for the second half

Every Leeds player appeared to struggle in the opening 45 minutes. Ethan Ampadu was failing to track his runners, Gabriel Gudmundsson had a nightmarish time up against Yankuba Minteh, while Brenden Aaronson and Jayden Bogle looked disjointed down the right.

Despite this, Farke changed nothing at the interval, enraging Leeds fans and rightly so as the Whites went on to suffer a 3-0 defeat.

One furious Leeds supporter wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “No subs after that first half?! This is why he deserves the sack. Watch (it go to) 2-0, then he’ll make subs.”

Another added: “This is why Farke has to go, no subs despite two CMs (centre-midfielders) putting in 3/10 performances, man is a joke.”

A third bluntly posted: “Where’s the subs mister Farke.”

The man born in Steinhausen did eventually make a double substitution in the 61st minute, bringing Anton Stach and Dan James on in place of Sean Longstaff and Ao Tanaka, although Brighton then made it 2-0 moments later in the 64th minute.

Furthermore, a fourth Leeds fan said: “How can Farke watch that half and not make any subs?”

They also posted a laughing emoji to further express their bemusement at the decision.

Others simply said they cannot take the 49-year-old seriously when he fails to act in obvious situations like this, and you can certainly understand that viewpoint.

49ers already had doubts over Daniel Farke

The German ought not to give the 49ers any excuse to consider his position, as they were already doing that before last season even ended.

Leeds considered sacking Farke before this campaign started amid doubts over his capabilities in the Premier League – having previously been relegated with Norwich in the 2019/20 season and also sacked by the Canaries during the term of 2021/22.

11 points from the first nine games this season helped to ease these fears, with sources telling Leeds United News that the 49ers are currently satisfied with how the season is going.

However, we presume nobody at Leeds will agree with Farke’s decision not to make any changes at the interval against Brighton, a truly baffling move given how poor the opening 45 minutes was.
