Leeds United are set to become active in the transfer market with the sale of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United expected in the next few days, and one player Leeds want is Gabriel Sara.

Summerville, 22, is expected to undergo a medical before the close of play on Thursday before a £25m move to West Ham. An initial £25m will be paid to Leeds, with £9m worth of add-ons included in the deal.

Plenty of Premier League clubs have been linked with The Championship’s Player of the Season including the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and more. But it is West Ham that now look set to win the race.

Daniel Farke had already admitted that Leeds needed a midfielder and a full-back, and now the club will actively look to sign a new winger to replace Summerville and possibly even try to sign two wide options.

Graeme Bailey shares how much Leeds need to pay for Sara

Sara was arguably the best player outside of the top-four clubs in the Championship last season. He laid on a huge 25 goals and assists for Norwich from midfield, often playing deep as one of two in a 4-2-3-1.

Leeds are keen on doing a deal for Sara but he is not going to come cheap. LeedsUnited.News spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, and he made it clear that Leeds will have to pay a huge £20m to sign him.

Bailey says Farke is a big admirer of the “amazing” ace, but that a deal to lure him to Leeds will be difficult to do: “Farke would like to sign Gabriel Sara but a deal looks tough. He will cost around the £20m mark.”

Bailey on whether Leeds will return with second Dejan Ljubicic bid

While Leeds want to do a deal for Sara, there is also interest in Cologne’s Dejan Ljubicic. An offer worth £3.3m for Ljubicic has been rejected already by the second-tier German side, but Leeds are interested.

Whether a second offer would be forthcoming from Yorkshire though, was unclear. However, Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that Farke’s side will return with a second offer for the nine-time Austria international.

However, it is unclear how much Leeds’ second bid would be worth and indeed, how much Cologne want for their versatile midfielder: “They really like this boy from Cologne. Yes, they are going back in for him.”
