Leeds United’s U21s picked up a first victory in their Premier League Cup campaign on Monday with a 3-1 win over Stockport County.
Daniel Farke has been reluctant to hand members of Leeds’ academy a shot in the first team this season but all the U21s can do is continue winning.
Charlie Crew, James Debayo and Sam Chambers have all been on the bench numerous times in Leeds‘ opening 10 matches of the campaign, but are still awaiting their senior debuts.
The likes of Luca Thomas and Reece Chadwick-Chaplin have also impressed so far this term, and the former has been rewarded with a loan spell at York City, where he netted on his debut.
Chadwick-Chaplin, meanwhile, already has eight goal contributions for Leeds’ U21s this season, an impressive feat for someone who is just 17.

Reuben Lopata-White nets first Leeds U21s goal
Alongside Chadwick-Chaplin on the scoresheet for Leeds U21s last night was Reuben Lopata-White and Joseph Richards.
Many of the players in that Leeds squad have been promoted from the U18s in recent months after their run to the FA Youth Cup final last season.
Lopata-White is among them and his goal against Stockport was the first time he has found the net for Leeds’ U21s, in his 10th appearance.
The 19-year-old is already someone Farke is keeping a close eye on, as he was invited to train with Leeds’ first team ahead of the recent win at Cardiff City.
Leeds are a little short on numbers at centre-back right now, with both Max Wober and Ethan Ampadu on the sidelines.
Lopata-White has captained Leeds’ U21s on a few occasions this season and perhaps if Debayo is called into action soon, he would be the next in line to take a place on the bench.
Where is Lopata-White in Leeds’ pecking order?
As mentioned, Leeds are a little short on options at centre-back right now, which is why Debayo is hardly playing for the U21s.
Joe Rodon is currently one booking away from a suspension and if that was to happen before Ampadu and Wober return, even more academy players may be needed.
