The focus this weekend was on Leeds United’s brilliant win over Sheffield United that has taken Daniel Farke’s side to third in the Championship, but an out-on-loan player scored on his debut.
A brilliant weekend for Leeds that saw Farke’s men end Sheffield United’s unbeaten start to the season, scoring the first goals that Chris Wilder’s Blades have conceded since August in the Championship.
But it was not just a good weekend for Leeds’ players that are currently at Thorp Arch. Interestingly, two players left Leeds on loan last week with midfielder Cian Coleman joining National League side Buxton.
Also, in-form striker Luca Thomas was sent on loan to neighbours York City. The 20-year-old has scored six Premier League 2 goals in five games this season and that has earned him a move to York this month.

Luca Thomas continues brilliant form with goal on York debut
The Leeds talent was afforded the last 15 minutes of York’s excellent 4-0 win over Ebbsfleet with manager Adam Hinshelwood careful in using the Leeds talent. But Thomas duly repaid him with his first pro goal.
The introduction at National League level was Thomas’ first-ever professional appearance and he quickly continued his superb form with a neat left-footed finish when played in, scoring York’s fourth of four.
Leeds talent Luca Thomas underlined delight with Instagram post
It was obvious that Thomas was delighted to get his name on the score sheet on Saturday afternoon by the way he celebrated York’s fourth goal, with the win already in the bag for Hinshelwood’s York side.
He celebrated by plunging himself into the fans, a move that would often earn a yellow card. But Thomas’ delight was not going to stop him and he posted on Instagram: “What a win! Very happy with that one.”
Thomas will not only be delighted with his goal for York and his brilliant start to 2024-25 because it is proof that he is a talent at Thorp Arch, but also because he is in the final year of his current contract.
Continuing in this fashion and surely, Daniel Farke will take notice. Certainly, Farke is already aware of the former Man City talent given Thomas was one of six Leeds youngsters to go to Germany in the summer.
