West Ham United are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville but as per the latest reports, a deal could suffer a late twist.
Reports at the beginning of the week suggested that a deal was as good as done. Summerville had accepted personal terms and Leeds agreed a fee, an initial figure of £25m plus £9m more in add-ons.
The add-ons are in two parts. Of the £9m, £5m would be performance-related add-ons in appearances, goals and other areas while the next £4m would be when Summerville wins his first Netherlands cap.
The Dutchman had a hand in 31 goals last season for Leeds, winning The Championship’s Player of the Season award. That form has attracted plenty of interest from a number of different Premier League clubs.

Why West Ham deal for Summerville could still fall through
But West Ham have moved first. A deal was believed to be close to completion with Summerville doing a medical in London on Thursday and set to link up with his new teammates on their USA summer tour.
However, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg delivers an update. He says that a deal is still far from completion, with the two yet to completely agree on a fee and indeed, contract length for Summerville.
Plettenberg said on X: “Summerville completed his medical with West Ham today. There are still no total agreements. On the player’s side, there are still details to be clarified regarding the contract length.
“Whether four or five years. Also, there is no complete agreement on the final transfer fee with Leeds United. The details are still being worked out but the medical is already done now,” Plettenberg said.
Leeds have cash to spend but who will The Whites sign?
Even before the loss of Summerville, Leeds needed a midfielder and a full-back. Something Farke has admitted himself publicly with Cologne midfielder Dejan Ljubicic a target, with an initial bid rejected.
Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News that The Whites will make a second bid for nine-time Austria star Ljubicic, while a move for Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara would set the Yorkshire side back a huge £20m.
With Jaidon Anthony and Ian Poveda also leaving prior to Summerville’s exit, a new winger should be considered by The Whites and Leeds fans are desperate to see the club lure Jack Clarke back to Yorkshire.
