Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has chosen to join Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United over a move to Leeds United this summer despite a big £15m bid from The Whites, and a report explains why he has done so.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a whole host of Championship clubs recently, while Premier League side Southampton made £7m and £12m bids to land Crystal Palace academy product Rak-Sakyi.

Leeds have been strongly linked with Rak-Sakyi and made a £15m bid for him, using the money received from selling Crysencio Summerville after The Championship’s Player of the Season joined West Ham.

The Whites certainly need wingers having sold Summerville, after already losing Jaidon Anthony and Ian Poveda this summer. Daniel Farke has welcomed back Brenden Aaronson, but the USA star is a no.10.

Why Rak-Sakyi has chosen to join Sheffield United over Leeds

The Star now report that Leeds held talks to sign Rak-Sakyi having made a £15m bid, but Palace ended up rejecting it because they wanted to send him on loan instead of losing the winger on a permanent basis.

The report now explains why Rak-Sakyi has chosen Sheffield United this summer over the likes of Leeds and other interested parties. One reason is Sheffield United have given him assurances over game time.

Despite a lack of options, Leeds still have Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto and while Rak-Sakyi is a talent, he would be unlikely to start over Gnonto or James. The other reason, is that he wants to play for Wilder.

The issue Leeds have in signing Premier League players on loan

A recent report highlighted the issue Leeds have in trying to sign Hugo Bueno from Wolves on loan this summer. Farke is unwilling to hand out empty promises of game time, and that is proving to be an issue.

It means Premier League clubs do not want to send their fringe players, or young gems on loan to Leeds because there is likely to be a lack of game time. Anthony started just six of his 38 Leeds appearances.

It saw Fabio Carvalho chose to join Hull City on loan from Brentford in January over Leeds and that was part of the problem, Farke could not promise that Carvalho would be first choice for the Yorkshire side.
