Robbie Evans might have claimed that Leeds United are right on the borderline when it comes to Profit & Sustainability Rules, but that has not stopped potential new signings from being linked.
Evans said Leeds would try to avoid investing in January, but having tried to sign both Harry Wilson and Facundo Buonanotte, there is a clear feeling at the club that Leeds are still lacking in the final third.
Since the summer window slammed shut, reports have emerged claiming Leeds are interested in doing some deals in January despite the club’s position regarding PSR. Wilson is still being linked with Leeds.
LeedsUnited.News understands Bodo/Glimt star Jens Petter Hauge is a player on the Elland Road list after scoring twice against Tottenham in the Champions League. Another is Inter Milan star Piotr Zielinski.

Inter Milan put Piotr Zielinski on transfer list for January window
Zielinski is a renowned name among the European elite. A player who sparkled for so many years at Napoli before his move to Inter in the summer of 2024, a player who boasts north of 100 Poland caps.
Leeds are said to be keen on Zielinski ahead of January, as well as Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini. On Tuesday night, Zielinski started only his second game of the season for Inter, a 4-0 win over Union Saint Gilloise.
A report from CalcioMercato this week, however, says Zielinski is the ‘prime candidate’ to leave Inter in January. That is because his position in the squad as a fringe player does not align with his wages.
The report from the Italian outlet says Zielinski is the sixth-highest-paid player in the Inter squad, with a take-home wage of £75,000 a week. The report states that Zielinski is ‘popular’ at Leeds right now.

What Poland’s manager has said about Piotr Zielinski’s future
Zielinski has been open and honest about his lack of Inter game time, which has seen the attacking ace fail to start a single Serie A match. Inter plays a 3-5-2 system, with attacking midfielders playing deeper.
But Zielinski is a player who can play as a 10, a second striker, and on either flank. In Daniel Farke’s side at the moment, the chances are he would play from out wide. Poland boss Jan Urban says he needs a move.
“I wouldn’t say Piotr has a big problem yet, but it’s hard to say now, because it’s not clear how much he’ll play in the near future. If someone doesn’t play regularly, he loses match fitness,” Urban said recently.
A move might make sense for all parties involved, especially with the World Cup on the horizon. If he is still struggling for game time, Zielinski may be tempted by a loan which would suit Leeds in January.
