The transfer window is over, but that has not stopped Leeds United being linked with new players and a report from Italy claims two attacking midfielders have been added to the Elland Road shortlist.

In the final days of the window, Leeds saw a move for Facundo Buonanotte hijacked by Chelsea before a deal for Harry Wilson looked good, until Fulham pulled the plug in the final hours on deadline day.

There have been reports that Leeds could go back in for Wilson in January, but Fulham manager Marco Silva has made it clear he wants the former Liverpool star to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage.

Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that a deal for Wilson is unlikely. Now, Italian media AS Roma Live claim that Leeds have added two new playmakers to their list, in a Roma and an Inter Milan ace.

Leeds add Inter Milan and Roma stars to list ahead of January

Managing director Robbie Evans has confirmed that Leeds have maxed out PSR for 2025-26, and if they are to make a new signing, then a player will have to be sold before June 30 to avoid breaking rules.

Well, that may eventually be the case. AS Roma Live say Leeds are considering moves for Inter Milan’s 31-year-old 101-time Poland international Piotr Zielinski and Roma’s set-piece genius Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Pellegrini, 29, was Roma captain last season before the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini, who has changed Roma’s captaincy to whoever has the most Roma appearances in the starting XI, often still Pellegrini.

Zielinski, meanwhile, only joined Inter last summer but has struggled to replicate his Napoli form. Just two goals in 43 appearances has seen him fall down the pecking order with the Champions League finalists.

Roma wanted just £8.5m for Pellegrini, West Ham made offer

Given Pellegrini’s contract situation, Roma wanted a bargain fee of just £8.5m for Pellegrini in the summer. Come January, that is likely to reduce even further to avoid Roma losing Pellegrini on a free.

According to Corriere Dello Sport in August, West Ham offered Pellegrini a deal north of £77,000 a week. A wage Leeds are capable of affording, given Dominic Calvert-Lewin is said to be on £100,000 a week.

Whether Pellegrini would be tempted by a move to Leeds depends on the position Leeds are in come January and if the club are able to remain ahead of PSR, first. Zielinski could be available on a loan deal.
