It is unclear if Leeds United are going to try and bring in any reinforcements in January. The next couple of months are likely to determine whether Leeds will look to sign additions.
Leeds tried to bring in Harry Wilson and Facundo Buonanotte in the final knockings of the summer window, but failed. Buonanotte has since explained why he chose to join Chelsea on loan from Brighton.
Fulham pulled the plug on Wilson’s move to Leeds, having failed to do a deal for Chelsea star Tyrique George. Ultimately, Leeds have been left in the lurch, and it has seen Brenden Aaronson start recently.
Leeds need better, but Robbie Evans says Leeds have maxed out PSR. Whether Leeds are willing to go past the line and risk trying to rectify it before June is unclear. Leeds continue to be linked with players.
Poland manager hints Piotr Zielinski needs to leave Inter Milan
Leeds are said to be keeping tabs on Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini and Inter’s Piotr Zielinski. Pellegrini has been told he can leave, with his Roma contract due to expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
For Zielinski, things are different. His Inter deal ends in 2028, but the 101-time Poland star has only started one game this season, and ahead of the World Cup, he will want much more regular minutes.
Zielinski seems happy to stay put, but Poland manager Jan Urban told a press conference this week that his lack of game time “could be a problem” if his situation under Christian Chivu does not improve.
“I wouldn’t say Piotr has a big problem yet, but it’s hard to say now, because it’s not clear how much he’ll play in the near future. If someone doesn’t play regularly, he loses match fitness,” Urban said this week.
“He cannot show what he is capable of. If he doesn’t get more minutes going towards the next break for international duty in November, then it can become a problem,” the Poland manager added, on Zielinski.
How much Inter want if Zielinski does leave permanently
Given Leeds’ situation regarding PSR, The Whites would obviously prefer a loan deal or even convince Inter to release Zielinski. But the latter is unlikely and a loan deal looks like a solution that suits all.
But for Inter to agree to that, the chances are they will want a permanent clause included, or even an obligation. Something that is quite common in Serie A. Reports say Inter want £8.7m for Zielinski.
For a player that has won Serie A, boasts over 100 caps for his country, can play in pretty much any attacking position and has Champions League quality, it is a bargain. But it seems rather ambitious.
