Isaac Schmidt is set to become one of at least two new players on deadline day at Leeds United with the full-back jetting in this morning to undergo a Leeds medical and sign on the dotted line.
The Whites need cover at full-back at the present moment with Sam Byram the only viable option at full-back for Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo. Byram of course, is no stranger to the treatment table at Leeds.
One of four signings identified by Daniel Farke in the last fortnight of the transfer window, that full-back void is now set to be filled by Schmidt. The 24-year-old star has impressed in Switzerland for St. Gallen.
Clocking up 108 appearances for the Swiss giants, Schmidt has had a hand in 17 goals in that time as a left-footed right-back. But he is able to play on both sides and looks set to be the ideal man as back-up.
What Schmidt’s teammates did last night ahead of Leeds move
Reports emerged of Schmidt being in advanced talks over a move to Elland Road last night. Leeds are set to pay St. Gallen a fee of £2.5m plus add-ons to land Switzerland U20 star Schmidt before the deadline.
Schmidt is due to fly to Leeds this morning before signing on at Elland Road. But that did not stop him playing for St. Gallen last night as he scored to help his current side beat Trabzonspor over two legs.
After a 0-0 draw in the first leg, Schmidt scored with his left foot before the Conference League qualifier finished 1-1. St. Gallen won on penalties, and his teammates paid tribute to him after the full-time whistle.
Swiss outlet Watson say that after St. Gallen had won after a shootout, his teammates ‘cheered’ him on in front of the fans. The report also states that an official move to Leeds is ‘expected’ to become official.

On 31 minutes and with the two sides unable to break the deadlock after 121 minutes of action, Schmidt found himself in acres of space with the ball crossing the box and he curled a first-time finish into the net.
Typically, Schmidt scored his seventh goal on the eve of a move away from St. Gallen. But also, it showed Leeds fans what they might hope to expect from the versatile defender over the years he spends at Leeds.
