With six signings through the door at Leeds United, the defence and central midfield have been sorted out in the transfer window by Daniel Farke and Adam Underwood’s transfer team.

But there is plenty more to be done. Many have reported that Leeds are looking at a new goalkeeper, a replacement for Manor Solomon and a starting striker that will go ahead of new signing Lukas Nmecha.

That is despite Nmecha impressing in his first two outings for Leeds, scoring his first goal in a Leeds shirt on Tuesday afternoon. The Whites played a total of 120 minutes against third-tier German side SC Verl.

Rodrigo Muniz seems to be a priority for Leeds up top, while Igor Paixao is the first-choice option on the left flank. But in goal, it is unclear who Leeds are going to sign with Lucas Perri now deemed unlikely.

What Daniel Farke said when asked about a new goalkeeper

Farke spoke to media after Tuesday’s 4-1 win, which also included a brace for Joel Piroe and a goal for Willy Gnonto. Largie Ramazani was arguably the star of the show, with the winger laying on two assists.

The German told reporters that Mateo Joseph wants to leave Leeds, while also fielding questions about new signings. He made it clear that Leeds are in the market for a keeper, despite his three options.

“We have three really good goalkeepers who played but we will look at each and every position in order to strengthen the squad,” Farke said, when asked by The Mail’s Aadam Patel about a new shot-stopper.

Why Leeds are focusing on other positions before a goalkeeper

According to numerous reports, Leeds are willing to wait to sign a goalkeeper until a week or two before the start of the Premier League season. It allows them to focus on other priorities like a new striker.

This is because Farke believes a goalkeeper does not require the tactical adaptation of other positions in the squad. He feels a goalkeeper can come in and get up to speed much quicker than an outfield player.

Perri remains the most-linked option with Graham Smyth outlining Leeds’ interest in Perri, Paixao and Muniz. But, with Lyon’s appeal against relegation winning, the new goalkeeper is probably an unknown.
