If Leeds United fail to get promoted this season, then there will be a fire sale at Elland Road this summer in order to bring in some cash balance the books.
Parachute payments will be more than halved from 45% to 20% before cutting out completely a year later. Two years out of the Premier League will also have it’s cost, with the league’s biggest wage bill.
So, Leeds need to get promoted to simply keep some of their star players. The likes of Ao Tanaka, Dan James, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Illan Meslier are all sure to attract some interest this summer.
But that won’t be the case if Leeds get promoted. Interest will not only originate from the Premier League with clubs abroad likely to keep a close eye on Leeds’ success, and PSV Eindhoven could make a move.

PSV Eindhoven touted with signing two Leeds United defenders
PSV are in the market for a new central defender with Oliver Boscagli set to leave the club on a free transfer. The Dutch giants need a replacement, one to go alongside Ryan Flamingo in the back line.
Voetbal Primeur have compiled a list of seven players that PSV could sign to replace Boscagli and interestingly, two Leeds players appear on the list in the form of Pascal Struijk and Maximilian Wober.
They describe Struijk as the ‘perfect option’, but think a move would be difficult given Leeds’ asking price and the likelihood of going up. Wober is a different situation, with Wober expected to leave this summer.

Leeds duo mooted with PSV moves after Joel Piroe admission
While PSV have been touted with two Leeds defenders, it is a current Leeds attacker that recently opened the door to a move to PSV. Indeed, Joel Piroe has starred for Leeds this term, having a hand in 21 goals.
Speaking to Dutch media during the March break, Piroe failed to rule out a potential return to boyhood club PSV. Piroe is approaching two years at Elland Road since swapping Swansea City for a fee of £16m.
Piroe will lead the line for Leeds on the weekend against his old side Swansea, who have just confirmed that former Leeds defender Alan Sheehan will remain in interim charge of the club until the summer.
