‘There are a few offers’… Club say Euro 2024 star is not for sale after links with Leeds United

Leeds United are reportedly said to have retained an interest in a Euro 2024 star from January but his club’s vice president has told media that the attacker is not for sale.

Leeds are expected to enter the transfer market and bring in some new signings sooner rather than later having lost a whole host of players already this summer. Five players have been sold by The 49ers so far.

Glen Kamara is expected to join a list that comprises of Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, Kris Klaesson, Charlie Cresswell and Archie Gray. Jamie Shackleton and Lew Bate have joined their new clubs on a free transfer.

Liam Cooper, Cody Drameh and Ian Poveda are free agents, while four others have gone on loan. Connor Roberts and Jaidon Anthony have also gone after loans, meaning Leeds need some new signings soon.

Leeds have retained an interest in a Turkish Euro 2024 star

With just 26 days to go until the opener against Portsmouth at Elland Road on August 10, Leeds need additions all over the park. Especially out wide, with Crysencio Summerville possibly set to leave the club.

Willy Gnonto has also been linked with the exit door and that would leave Leeds with just one option out wide, in Dan James. In January, Leeds were linked with a move for Galatasaray star Kerem Akturkoglu.

But the Turkish side were unwilling to sell him in January, and it was claimed that Leeds would retain their interest in 25-year-old Akturkoglu this summer. Whether that interest remains is unclear, but possible.

Now, Galatasaray vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu has delivered an update on “wizard” Akturkoglu. He told CNN Turk that Akturkoglu is not for sale this summer and that there are a number of offers made.

“There are a few offers for Kerem. We do not want to let Kerem go. He is a very successful player in the national team. We don’t want to lose a player like Kerem at a time when many local players are needed.”

Every player has his price but with Akturkoglu’s contract running until 2026, the chances are he will stay put at least for another season. Leeds may have to look at other targets in the coming weeks and months.
