Left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson is in the final stages of signing for Leeds United from French outfit LOSC Lille.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is set to sign his contract at Elland Road and become Leeds United’s fourth summer signing and third defensive addition.

Leeds United News sources confirmed to us last week that a deal between Leeds and Gudmundsson was accelerating and moving swiftly in the right direction.

Later, Graham Smyth reported things were on track and the two parties were coming to a conclusion. Now, it appears more details have been finalised between the player and the two clubs.

The full terms of Gabriel Gudmundsson’s move to Leeds United

Leeds agreed personal terms with Gudmundsson, as we first revealed. However, there were still other aspects to iron out, including a final fee.

It was previously reported that Gudmundsson could cost Leeds as little as £8 million, while others thought Leeds were signing Gudmundsson for £8.6 million.

There was talk that it would cost between €10 million and €15 million to make the deal final, but with Leeds angling for a fee towards the lower end of that. However, a compromise has been met.

Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato states that, according to their information, a full agreement has been reached between Lille and Leeds for a transfer valued at €12 million (£10.3 million) to make a deal confirmed.

Further information comes via Swedish journalist Anel Avdic. He states Gudmundsson will sign a four-year contract with an annual salary of just over 50 million kronor per year. That works out at around £70,000 per week for Gudmundsson.

It is unclear if that wage is before or after tax, or if it is net pay or gross pay. However, it is a significant increase on his wage in Ligue 1 with Lille.

Gabriel Gudmundsson highlights the Leeds financial model this summer

It was previously reported that there was a possible £150 million available to Leeds this summer, with some bargain deals at undervalue prices being made.

Perhaps more interestingly, £30 million is expected by the 49ers on ‘priority’ signings in the most vital of positions to fill, meaning the Whites are saving well with most deals, even if Gudmundsson is £1.7 million more than yesterday’s reports from France.

Next in line could be Anton Stach, as the Hoffenheim midfielder could join Leeds for £17 million, which would be their most expensive.

However, it would once again be below the £20 million mark and allow for more significant deals in attacking areas, where more of the budget is expected to go.
