Leeds look set to target a striker in the winter transfer window.
Haji Wright is admired by those at Leeds after a strong season at Coventry so far – netting nine goals in 16 Championship appearances.
Furthermore, Leeds like Troy Parrott too – the Republic of Ireland international with 14 goals in 18 games for AZ Alkmaar so far this term.
Santiago Gimenez has now entered the scene after TEAMtalk stated that the Mexico international has been offered to Leeds – but the striker’s father has now quashed talk of a potential move to Elland Road.
Santiago Gimenez wants AC Milan stay despite being offered to Leeds United
Which player would you be happy for Leeds to sell in January to fund their transfer business? Let us know in the comments… 🤔💰
The likes of Joel Piroe and Willy Gnonto are struggling to force their way into Farke's plans.
Speaking to the Vamos Show on YouTube, the Mexican’s father said: “Santi has great affection for Milan, so he is living a dream. There are photographs I have of Santi at the age of six and nine, wearing the Milan jersey. I still have at home a Milan jacket he wore when he was ten years old.
“Santi wants to stay at Milan. This is an important club, where he must perform at the maximum level. He’s very happy here.”
AC Milan spent €32m (£28m) to sign Gimenez from Feyenoord in February 2025 – but the move is yet to work out for both parties as the forward has scored just seven goals in 30 appearances so far.
TEAMtalk state the Italian giants are open to selling the 24-year-old as they consider signing a different striker, with Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United an option.
With a remarkable haul of 65 goals in 105 games for Feyenoord, Gimenez could still prove to be a fine addition for Leeds despite his struggles in Italy, if AC Milan do end up forcing him out of the San Siro.
Leeds United must ignore Santiago Gimenez after comments on the Vamos Show
Even if the AC Milan No.7 does end up being forced out of the San Siro this winter, Leeds should ignore the situation after hearing what his father said.
Daniel Farke needs all hands on deck during this relegation battle, which means only those who truly want to be at Leeds should be signed.
Should Leeds follow Nottingham Forest’s path and risk a points deduction? 💸
Gimenez clearly adores AC Milan, and if he is shoved out, he might not even be in the correct mindset to deliver in a relegation battle for Leeds.
There is also a doubt over whether he would even be able to deliver in English football at all having struggled in Serie A – where several washed up Premier League players have still managed to perform to a high level like Edin Dzeko, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Unless the 49ers are panicking on deadline day and need a last resort on loan, Gimenez is one to ignore.
