Leeds United want to sign a striker before the close of the January transfer window and one forward linked with a move to Elland Road has been offered an escape route by Roberto De Zerbi.
Starting the window with four strikers all proven at this level and if not, in the Premier League, Daniel Farke now only has two options up top. Joe Gelhardt has left for Hull City, scoring on his first Hull start.
Gelhardt’s second start was Hull’s stunning 3-0 away win over Sheffield United on Friday night. Typically, Patrick Bamford suffered a setback regarding his injury shortly after Leeds sanctioned Gelhardt’s exit.
Leeds have been linked with plenty of strikers. Mergim Berisha is off to Augsburg, while Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been urged to return to England amid reports Iheanacho is set to join Leeds.

Roberto De Zerbi pops up with escape plan for Leeds target
Leeds United have been loosely linked with Evan Ferguson of Brighton, with the Ireland striker struggling to get game time since the appointment of Fabian Hurtzeler and Georginio Rutter arriving from Leeds.
Don Goodman recently said that Ferguson would be the “perfect fit” for Leeds but any links between the Whites and Ferguson have died off. Now, The Sun’s Alan Nixon says De Zerbi wants to sign Ferguson.
Nixon says on his Patreon that De Zerbi is offering Ferguson the chance to go and join Marseille on loan until the end of the season, in a move that would see the Italian gaffer reunite with Ferguson in France.

Marseille and De Zerbi will surely tempt Ferguson to go
If Marseille and De Zerbi are serious about taking the Irish target man to Ligue 1 before the deadline emerges on February 3, it is difficult to imagine why Ferguson would not be tempted by the transfer.
Leeds will have a long list of strikers they can go after in the final few days of the window and Ferguson could quite possibly be on it. But even at the start of the window, it was deemed largely ambitious.
This is a young talent who has starred when given Premier League game time. Championship football is beneath Ferguson and a move to Marseille under De Zerbi is surely going to appeal to the forward.
