After Jaka Bijol is finally announced by Leeds United, Adam Underwood and the transfer team at Elland Road are likely to prioritise signing a new goalkeeper in the coming weeks.

Leeds have brought in cover up front in Germany international Lukas Nmecha and have announced the addition of centre-back Jaka Bijol. The Slovenian is expected to partner Joe Rodon in the Leeds defence.

The priorities remain a new goalkeeper, a left-back to replace Junior Firpo, a midfielder, a left winger with Manor Solomon telling Tottenham he wants to stay, a no.10 and a starting striker to rival Joel Piroe.

Plenty of goalkeepers have been linked with Leeds, with the club’s three options all about to enter the final year of their contract. But one option for Leeds could end up joining The 49ers’ new club Rangers.

Rangers are battling Galatasaray to sign Aaron Ramsdale on loan

Rangers are about to sign Max Aarons, with Aarons also linked with Leeds earlier this month. Now, The Gers – who have been taken over by The 49ers and have hired Russell Martin – want Aaron Ramsdale.

That is according to TalkSPORT, who claim Rangers are one of two clubs battling to land the England international. They say that Southampton are willing to loan out Ramsdale, who earns £100,000 a week.

It sees The 49ers choose to pursue a deal to sign Ramsdale this summer, despite Leeds needing a new goalkeeper and Ramsdale being linked with a move to Elland Road. It also said Galatasaray want him.

Why Leeds may have chosen to overlook Aaron Ramsdale

There is no doubting that Ramsdale is a top goalkeeper. But the Southampton stopper has now suffered four relegations throughout his career, and three from the Premier League after going down with Saints.

It comes after suffering relegation with Sheffield United and Bournemouth from England’s top tier, while doing so with Chesterfield in 2018. Leeds need a goalkeeper that can help them survive relegation.

Perhaps, Ramsdale’s dismal record when it comes to survival has convinced Leeds to look at other options and that has allowed The 49ers to target him as a potential signing for Rangers in the coming weeks.
