One of Victor Orta’s loan army is now set for a return to Leeds United with his loan club ‘extremely unlikely’ to meet the asking price slapped on his head.
Brenden Aaronson has been confirmed as returning to Elland Road by Union Berlin, while Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra have completed permanent moves to Eintracht Frankfurt and Bournemouth already.
But the future remains an unknown for Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Jack Harrison and Wober. Though it seems as is the latter will be on his way back to Elland Road, after new reports.
It has already been claimed that Roca will make his way back to Yorkshire, while Kristensen has not done enough to earn a permanent Roma move. Llorente’s future is in the balance as Roma weigh up a deal.
Now, a report from Wober’s home country states that it is ‘extremely unlikely’ that Wober will sign on permanently at Gladbach. Krone say Leeds are requesting £10.2m, more than Gladbach want to pay.
Wober set for Leeds return as Gladbach stay deemed unlikely
Of the eight players that did leave on loan, it is conceivable to think that Wober might have a future at Elland Road. He only joined Leeds in January 2023, and impressed in the second half of the season.
Wober annoyed fans when he left the club, though. Dropping Leeds at the first opportunity when Daniel Farke’s old side came calling, despite captaining Leeds in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Barnsley.
He said the reason for his exit was because he wanted to strengthen his place in Austria’s side ahead of Euro 2024, and he has done that. But his future is now completely up in the air, at least at club level.
Leeds are confident of securing Wober sale this summer
But even if there is scope for a Leeds return, the chances are he will be sold. Wober will not want to be playing in the second tier of English football and Leeds are keen to sell him in the coming months.
Earlier reports suggested Leeds wanted £14.5m for him, but the latest claim says that Leeds could do a deal at £10.2m. Leeds are confident that Wober’s form during 2023-24 will be enough to earn a transfer.
But that seems unlikely at Gladbach, moving into next season. The chances are that Wober will leave Leeds in the coming weeks and months, but to a completely different club somewhere in Europe.
