Leeds want £14.5m for player Jesse Marsch said is ‘intelligent’, 49ers would make a tidy profit

Leeds United have placed a £14.5m price tag on one of their out-on-loan players after enjoying a successful season in Europe away from Elland Road.

Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause allowed a number of players to leave Leeds without the club being able to prevent a move. It saw eight senior players take advantage, leaving Leeds for top-tier clubs.

Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente went to Roma, Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson and Robin Koch moved to Germany. Marc Roca returned to Spain, Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra to the Premier League.

Leeds are confident that Wober, Harrison, Roca and Llorente have done enough to secure themselves permanent exits while Koch and Sinisterra have agreed to join loan sides Frankfurt and Bournemouth.

Kristensen will return to Leeds after an indifferent spell at Roma and Aaronson’s future is up in the air, struggling for much of his loan at Union Berlin who are in danger of being relegated in Germany.

Now, an update on Wober’s future has emerged from Germany, with Bild reporting that Leeds have put a price tag on the left-footed defender’s head of £14.5m.

But, Bild report that there is a problem if his loan side are to make a move. Wober has impressed over in Germany with Gladbach, but injury has limited the Austria defender to just 27 games in all competitions.

The defender is not well-liked among Leeds fans after leaving the club last summer, even though it was believed he would stay. As soon as Gladbach showed interest, Wober was off to Daniel Farke’s old side.

Leeds have slapped a £14.5m asking price on his head, £3.5m more than the £11m fee Leeds paid to sign him from Salzburg in January 2023. But Gladbach only want to pay to pay a maximum of £7.7m.

So there is every chance that Wober could return to Leeds despite the fans view of him. Graeme Bailey recently told LeedsUnited.News that Leeds would probably not pay attention to what the fans thought.

He also told us that there will be more than just Gladbach looking at Wober, who did impress in his half-season spell in the building at Elland Road before the club were relegated to the Championship.

It looks as if that Leeds will sell him if the 49ers get what they are asking for but if they don’t, then he could be a Leeds player moving forward, a player that Jesse Marsch described as “intelligent”.
