Leeds United have been linked with a number of strikers this summer, even after signing Lukas Nmecha.
The 49ers and Daniel Farke are working hard to bolster Leeds United’s ranks to give them a Premier League squad capable of surviving an immediate return to the Championship.
Rumours are heating up over who might be the next to make the move to West Yorkshire. One name is Nikola Krstovic of Italian side Lecce.
Krstovic has been linked to Leeds for almost a month now and Leeds fans are keen to sign Krstovic this summer, with the 25-year-old scoring or assisting 16 times last season in Serie A.
Nikola Krstovic continues to be linked with a move to Leeds United
Krstovic is hot property after a prolific season with Lecce in Serie A. The Montenegro international scored 11 in 37 league games for the club and it’s been reported that Leeds could sign Krstovic in a £25 million deal this summer.
More recent reports say that Leeds are in advanced talks to sign Krstovic this summer. But Lecce have since upped the asking price, with a near record fee from Leeds needed to acquire Krstovic.
And there’s now fresh doubt over a potential move as well. It comes after reports in Italy claimed that Krstovic would rather stay in Italy this summer and join a bigger Serie A club instead.
Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, prominent journalist Matteo Moretto explained the latest on the situation.
He states Lecce would have a verbal agreement to sell Krstovic to Leeds for around €25-26 million but that the issue is the Whites still don’t have an agreement with the striker.
Krstovic would prefer to stay in Italy and wants to evaluate some other proposals before coming to England to join Leeds’ Premier League push.

Nikola Krstovic is not a summer transfer target for Leeds United
Krstovic has won numerous accolades and just had an incredible season by contributing to 16 of Lecce’s 27 league goals in total.
However, Leeds United News sources have been informed that there is no truth to Leeds’ current interest in the Montenegrin centre-forward.
They have monitored his situation and watched the player previously but the interest in the striker ahead of a Premier League campaign is wide of the mark.
Joe Donnohue of The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported similar information recently, with Leeds active in the market for another new striker but not for Krstovic.
