Forget Nikola Kristovic, Leeds United can surprise everyone by signing Bundesliga striker after growing unhappy

A striker is guaranteed to rank towards the top end of Leeds United’s shopping list this summer, with Daniel Farke needing to ensure they can score regular goals.

Leeds United must be strong in both boxes in the Premier League, but they also need to have a player who is capable of pinning, pressing, and scoring the goals.

All of that rolled into one won’t come cheap, but it is necessary if they are to have any chance of survival. One option that is reportedly a target has emerged already.

Leeds are interested in signing Nikola Krstovic which has already seen Leeds fans become keen to bring in Krstovic from Serie A this summer.

Ermedin Demirovic is a better option for Leeds than Krstovic

Leeds know that attacking differentials don’t grow on trees but they could already be priced out of signing the 25-year-old. That’s because, the issue is, Krstovic could cost Leeds £50 million from Lecce.

Obviously, he will not be the only striker on their shortlist, and another could potentially be on Leeds’ radar, having been made available.

Ermedin Demirovic of VfB Stuttgart has only been with the Europa League outfit for one season after joining from FC Augsburg but it could be his one and only campaign.

Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims the Bosnian international striker could be on the move this summer. That is sure to have alerted many clubs across Europe, and Leeds ought to be one of them.

Not only does he have an eye for goal but Demirovic does many of the fundamentals of a modern-day centre-forward to a high standard already. The 27-year-old can run the channels, link play, and is strong and robust enough to lead the line as a focal point.

He is a peak-age player with plenty of quality and know-how already. Unfortunately for Demirovic, he has been out of favour with Stuttgart due to Nick Woltemade and Deniz Undav’s form also being excellent.

He could be well-suited to Premier League football and a sensible signing for Leeds if they can strike a deal for a player who has only spent one season at Stuttgart.

Ermedin Demirovic’s goal and assist record is what Leeds will be looking for in search of PL survival

Krstovic is just one of numerous players linked to Leeds already, but Demirovic would be the more sensible pick up, given his age and experience, as well as his nose for sniffing out chances as a poacher in the box and putting them away.

Demirovic has really hit his stride in the last two seasons, scoring regularly and showing his creative side in numerous moments when combining with teammates around the box.

As the lone striker with runners around him, and good deliveries into the box, Demirovic could be exactly what Leeds need in their first season of Premier League football.

The fact he is available after winning the 2024/25 DFB-Pokal with Stuttgart may be a surprise, but he deserves to be playing regularly in the top flight somewhere.

His overall record over the last two seasons in all competitions for Augsburg and Stuttgart reads as 83 appearances, 32 goals, 13 assists — it’s a no-brainer for Leeds due to Krstovic’s ridiculous price tag.
