Liverpool are said to have been scouting a Leeds United player for quite some time ahead of the summer window and Arne Slot is a self-confessed big fan.

Leeds are gunning for promotion this season whether that be in the automatic slots or more likely in the play-offs after a 4-0 defeat to QPR. Securing promotion will determine the future of some Leeds stars.

The likes of Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and Pascal Struijk all generated interest last summer and that is likely to return regardless of promotion. A return to the Premier League helps Leeds keep these players.

Another is Crysencio Summerville, who recently won the Championship‘s Player of the Season award. The pocket-sized Dutchman has been on fire for Daniel Farke’s side, having a hand in a huge 30 goals.

His form has seen reports claim that Feyenoord regret the £1.25m sale of Summerville to Leeds back in 2020. Xabi Alonso is reportedly keen on luring him to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano has an update and he claims Liverpool have been scouting Summerville for a while. A move that could see Arne Slot sign Summerville, after Slot was linked with the Leeds job back in 2023.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool want Crysencio Summerville

Speaking on his podcast over the weekend about Liverpoool’s interest in Summerville, Romano said: “From what I am hearing, it’s true Summerville at Leeds United is one of the players they are monitoring.

“They sent scouts multiple times even before [Michae]l Edwards and [Richard] Hughes arrived at the club to follow the progress of Summerville. Let’s see what Liverpool will decide to do,” Romano continued.

Leeds are expected to keep Summerville if the club are promoted but a move to Liverpool to work under a fellow Dutchman who has Feyenoord ties may prove to be too tempting for Summerville to turn down.

What Slot has said about Leeds star Summerville in the past

The BBC among many other outlets have reported that Liverpool have agreed a fee of £9.4m to lure Slot to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s successor. The current Liverpool boss has said he is excited by the manager.

Earlier this year, Slot spoke of how he wanted to sign Summerville at Feyenoord: “I would have liked to see Summerville on our side. He’s too expensive. I have found him an interesting player for a long time.”

With the resources Liverpool have at their disposal, Slot now has the chance to sign Summerville. A player that scored the winner against Liverpool at Anfield under Jesse Marsch during the 2022-23 season.
