Leeds United told how much they’ll need to pay to sign Jonathan Rowe by Carlton Palmer

Leeds United are in talks to sign Norwich City attacker Jonathan Rowe this summer as Daniel Farke looks to raid his old side, and Carlton Palmer has now had his say.

The Whites are expected to bring in a few fresh faces before the deadline after the sale of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham, with a £25m initial fee arriving in Leeds’ coffers for the pocket-sized winger.

Leeds have a number of positions that require strengthening. Currently, Farke only has three senior full-backs in his squad in the form of Sam Byram, Junior Firpo and summer signing Jayden Bogle, a new no.2.

Farke is also in need of replacing Glen Kamara and a goalscoring midfielder is the order of the day. On-loan Joe Rothwell will be hoping he can be that man, but it is likely Leeds try to make a new signing there.

Then of course, a replacement for Summerville. The Dutchman was The Championship’s Player of the Season last term, with 31 goals and assists and that needs replacing in some degree before the deadline.

Leeds have made an initial £7m offer for England U21 man Rowe, but that is expected to be rejected. We spoke to Graeme Bailey here at LeedsUnited.News, and he says Leeds want to do a deal for below £10m.

Leeds are aware a deal for Rowe will not be ‘straightforward’, but former Leeds midfielder Palmer sees it differently. He told Football League World that he thinks a £7m fee is enough to sign “very smart” Rowe.

“A fee of £7m I think would see him on his way to Leeds. It’s a good move for him, he will be guaranteed more game time. A move to the Championship before the Premier League may benefit Rowe and Leeds.”

The Whites are not foolish enough to only go after one player. The new-look transfer team is made up of three main me, instead of one supreme dictator that controlled everything like a certain Victor Orta.

Jordan Miles, Nick Hammond and Gretar Steinsson have been savvy in the transfer window so far. The likes of Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Bogle and Ilia Gruev have all joined Leeds for a combined £25m.

Needless to say, they are considering alternatives to Rowe and one player Leeds could turn to is Crystal Palace star Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan. But the focus is on Norwich’s Rowe and a second bid is expected.
