The international break will have been a welcome respite for Leeds United, and for Daniel Farke too. It’s also a chance for him to cast his eye over some potential summer transfer targets.
Leeds United already have a growing list of summer transfer targets despite still being in the midst of a promotion battle in the Championship.
Although the Whites have had a bit of a dip in form, many still back them to go on and secure the Championship title this season, with Daniel Farke seemingly preparing his summer transfer list accordingly.
Leeds United have several strikers on their radar including the likes of former Chelsea and England star Tammy Abraham, who could cost upwards of £20million, as well as Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher who would cost the same.
It’s in these two positions where Farke looks most keen to bolster. Up top especially, Leeds simply don’t have enough firepower at Elland Road right now to compete in a Premier League campaign, with just Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph the only fit options.

Leeds United transfer target Josh Sargent hints at Norwich City exit
Among the strikers linked with Leeds right now is Farke’s former Norwich City hitman Josh Sargent. The US international has been in prolific form this season having scored 12 and assisted five in 24 Championship outings for the Canaries, with Leeds United among the teams interested in a summer transfer swoop.
Right now, Sargent is on international duty with USMNT. He’s been recalled to Mauricio Pochettino’s side and the former Spurs boss has spoken positively about Sargent’s form this season. Sargent has also been speaking to the press recently and he’s given a nod to his summer ahead.
He explained to The Guardian that he could have a lot of options to leave Carrow Road this summer, saying: “I think there will be a few options this summer if something were to happen. It’s a decision that me and my wife are going to have to make together, and whatever makes the most sense for our family, as well as my career.”

Josh Sargent struggles to make impact with USMNT
Sargent has been in and out of the USMNT squad this season. He’s been brought back in for this March international break, though it’s not been an easy return to Pochettino’s side.
Sargent started the game against Panama last week which ended in a 1-0 defeat. Pochettino then left Sargent out of the side that lost against Canada on Sunday in what’s been a rather horrendous international break for the States’ national side.
CBS gave Sargent a 6/10 rating against Panama, writing: “In what felt like a major opportunity for Josh Sargent to take a step forward in his quest to be the starting striker, he only touched the ball eight times putting his one shot off the post. It’s not Sargent’s fault that the USMNT struggled to break down Panama’s defence but he needed more support.”
Whilst Sargent may be proving he can cut it at Championship level this season, he’s still struggling to make it stick on the international stage, and that might suggest that he’s not yet ready for a big summer move.
Leeds United return to Championship action at home to Swansea City on Saturday.
